Insurance does not cover coaching or consulting fees although some individuals have been able to use their FSA or HSA through their employer to pay for services. Rates vary depending on services provided, duration, and individual needs. (Because I am passionate about helping to improve the lives of all adults, children, and families impacted by ADHD, regardless of income, I also offer no/low cost monthly support groups and resources through Valley ADHD.)
After a 90 minute intake session, which includes assessing needs and mapping out goals, I meet with coaching clients for 45 minutes a week at a specific time, by phone or video. In between sessions, client and coach check-in with one another by text or email. I also provide resources and make referrals for clients when appropriate. The average amount of time needed to see growth for most coaching clients is about three months, but a commitment of six months is often recommended for longer term behavior change.
Consultations for shorter term issues are approximately 55 minutes long and are scheduled as needed.
Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not substitute for therapy if needed, and does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental illness. Many clients with ADHD work with both a qualified ADHD coach (for life management, creating structure, and achieving behavioral goals) and a licensed psychotherapist (for emotional support and treating mental health diagnoses).
